Does The Bible Say The Earth is Flat?

Yes. Absolutely yes. If you, think that’s wrong, just look at the 10 commandments, specifically commandment #2.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

Notice I bolded the words “water under the earth.” The reality is that you can only draw 3 conclusions from this statement:

  1. Scientists are wrong about what is inside the earth. But wait… aren’t they completely confident that there is a crust, a mantle and core? Not to mention what they are made of? Either that, or they are wrong… and if that’s the case, why are the NOT WRONG about the rest of the earth? I mean think about it… they teach this to you like its a fact, when the reality is, they have no idea. So you MUST QUESTION THEM. If this is your conclusion, then you have no other logical option than to doubt cosmology, simply because it comes from science.
  2. God is a liar, and very much a God of contradictions and confusion. This statement in itself is shown to be false all throughout the bible. So if you believe that God flat out lied when he gave the tablets to Moses, then you’re going to have a pretty hard time reconciling just about anything that has to do with being a Christian.
  3. Hebrew cosmology is correct, and there are waters above and below the earth making the globe model utterly and completely a satanic lie.

Don’t just take my word for it. Here is Hewbrew scholar, Dr Michael Heiser talking about Hebrew cosmology:

He believes of course that it was “poetic” because “they didn’t know any better”. I’ll get into why this makes absolutely no sense later, suffice it to say, I put this video here are a proof of the fact that this was, in fact, the cosmology as believed by the Hebrew people.

Scriptures concerning the nature of the heavens/sky above and their relationship to the earth:

These scriptures I’ve copied off Rob Skiba’s site “Testing The Globe” and you can visit it here: http://testingtheglobe.com/. Let’s discuss each of these. We’re starting with the book of Job, which some scholars think is the oldest book of the bible. Some even think its pre-flood. Very cool.

Job 9:6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

Here Job, to me, is reaffirming the fact that the earth is in place and fixed firmly on top of pillars. Its really that simple. Job was likely written pre-flood since he describes a dinosaur, and this would mean he lived during the “golden age”. My guess would be that Job had VAST knowledge of the world around him.

Job 22:14 Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

The circuit of heaven implies that heavens move, not the earth. The circuit (strongs 2329)  is also the “circle” or “vault” of the heavens. So God walks around a circle in heaven or in the vault (as in vaulted dome). This passage doesn’t make any sense in a round earth context to me. Once you view it from a flat earth perspective it obviously does.

Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

A lot of people say “duh the earth is in orbit so it hangs on nothing.” Since the Hebrew cosmology was based on a flat earth, I would say the earth hangs on nothing because it set on pillars.

10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

If you’re flat-earth-o-meter isn’t at a 10 here, then I don’t know what to say. The waters have bounds. As it a Truman Show style dome holding the waters back. Maybe its Antartica. Maybes it just the firmament dome itself. I don’t know, but I’m fairly certain this scripture doesn’t imply “the waters all meet up and the land mass kind of separates them…” No. It says he put bounds around the water. Period.

Job 37:18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?

Job thinks that the sky is strong. As in HARD, like a molten looking glass. I can’t help but think of 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. To me, the sky is either hard, or Yahweh is one confusing God. I mean he tells us on the one hand that he isn’t the God of confusion and that he isn’t capable of lying, and yet he told us in Job that the sky is hard… See where I’m going with this (in case you don’t, I’m being sarcastic)?

Let’s go back to the beginning. After Job was written, the book of Genesis was, most scholars think by Moses. So what does that mean? Its means of course that even though Moses is speaking about the creation of the world, he wasn’t there, so Yahweh made known to him what happened.

Genesis 1:
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Firmament (aka RIWX). Strongs 7549: extended surface (solid), vault of heaven supporting waters above. As clear as day, the firmament is a hard surface separating the waters above the earth from the sky and waters below the earth. I think this is blatantly clear from the text, even without the definition. But again, the question arises: Did the perfectly righteous Yahweh LIE in only the 6th verse of the story of creation? If you’re opinion is that the earth is round, then I just don’t see any way around it. You think God is a liar.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament of Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

The image above shows what the ancient Hebrew view of cosmology. The reason all of these texts are written from a flat earth perspective, is because this is what they believed.

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

I suppose this could be an inter-dimensional window… but that is a stretch. The text is very clear, that its a window, lattice or a chimney for smoke to escape (strong’s 0699). In other words, if you are in an enclosure, such as a house, or a world, such as Earth, the windows in the firmament open to allow the water above to fall in. This actually makes a lot more sense to me also, because it shows just how suddenly the flood came upon the earth. The idea was that no one except for Noah (not even the watchers) knew that the flood was imminent.

Genesis 8:2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

This verse just points to the fact that there are windows to heaven above, which are holding back the waters above. The windows are shut, and the water stops falling down. It’s really that simple. I supposed that the windows of heaven could be a metaphor for the sky, but the rain is coming from heaven. So either your argument is that Yahweh used dimensional portals or something to send water to earth, or he opened physical windows, as the text says. Going back to what Mike Heiser had to say, they thought he opened physical windows because they thought it was flat. And it is flat. Moving on.

2 Samuel 22:8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.

This is a simple question of logic. When you realize that the firmament is attached to the earth and heaven is on top of the firmament dome, then when the earth shakes, the foundations of heaven also shake and move because they are connected. Look up. Yes, right now, look up at the sky. You’re looking at a blue material of some sort that appears like glass, and just on the other side of that is Yahweh. Try crying out to God. I’m convinced he can actually hear you.

Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Agreed.

Psalm 29:10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.

Psalm 78:
21 Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
23 Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24 And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
25 Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.

Psalm 104:
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

The idea here is that the firmament is the base, there are waters above, and the beams are on that. Again, these guys thought that the earth was flat which is why they continually write as though Yahweh is dwelling right above their heads.

Psalm 148:4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

Let’s just stop for a moment and consider how little this makes sense in a round earth context (its not in a round earth context). Does that mean that the waters are above the infinite universe? No. Of course not. The heavens are inside the firmament dome, and the waters are above that. See? It makes sense.

Proverbs 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set {Hebrew: “chaqaq”} a compass {Hebrew: “chug”} upon the face of the depth:

This is interesting. It actually means, in this context, “he set a circle upon the face of the depth,” but when you apply the other meaning of compass, which is “direction”, its like he set the path towards himself. Very cool.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Joshua 10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Are the References Just Poetry?

Getting back to what I was talking about above with scholar Dr. Mike Heiser, he knows that its not using poetic language. I think the problem is he is assuming that NASA is trustworthy and that we actually understand cosmology. I don’t blame him. As a scholar, stepping outside of your own area of expertise and saying you know better than someone else is generally frowned upon. I learned this from Dr. John Lennox. But that of course “hurt feelings” or whatever you want to call it is no reason to believe God or not. So I would say that Mike is actually doing a lot of harm to the Christian faith by taking the side of secret societies and lying governments rather than the side of Yeshua. Let me make one final point on this. If Yeshua is God, and came down to teach men, he had ample time to correct the misunderstanding of the cosmos, knowing full well that it would cause division in the end times. He did not. He allowed people to continue to believe that they lived in an enclosed flat terrarium. That, to me, is proof enough that this round earth scenario is a deception.
